Chuck Inglish is one of modern rap's unsung innovators; it was only label politics that kept his Cool Kids from the success they deserved. Here the rapper/producer expands beyond his usual bass-and-percussion tracks by layering keyboards and trumpets on "Glam," pushing an electro tempo on the Chromeo-assisted "Legs," and making a cumbia rhythm for "Ingles (Mas o Menos)." These songs may sound a little too busy, but Inglish is abandoning his less-is-more strategy so he can recapture our attention. On cuts like "H.M.U.," he mixes bottom-heavy beats with new ideas that point toward the future.
