It's never too late for a proper introduction, even for somebody who's been in the business for 50 years. Long consigned to backup vocals and (glorious) holiday appearances, Love finally gets the solo turn she deserves, a booming Wall of Sound update filtered through the Jersey Shore sensibilities of producer Steven Van Zandt. Plenty of fans lend their talents, with Bruce Springsteen contributing two tracks and original Righteous Brother Bill Medley joining Love on an Elvis Costello-penned ballad. But this is Darlene's show: gospel grit, youthful passion and plenty of sha-la-la's.
