The 2nd Law: Unsustainable
Label: Warner Records
If Muse can't save the world through the power of rock music, then no one can. The Brits get (somehow) even more dystopically bombastic on their sixth album, doing their best to sonically interpret Blade Runner and George Orwell. In the process, they traverse the great pantheon of British rock, from Zeppelin ("Supremacy") to Queen (all over) to Radiohead ("Animals"), but they also take detours through Thriller ("Panic Station") and even Skrillex's world of aggro-step ("The 2nd Law: Unsustainable," "Madness"). The 2nd Law may be totally absurd, but it's still one helluva ride through doomsday.
