Never Never Love
Label: Counter Records
Floating in a time warp of bell bottoms, Charlie's Angels and early MTV, Pop Levi hits more nostalgia buttons than an I Love the '70s (or '80s) special. He laments over half-devoted "babes" and boasts about driving Mustangs all between bouts of Gary Numan synths, Doobie Brothers yacht rock, Prince "ow!"s and Robert Plant wails. Some of his grooves are fun enough for a limbo contest ("Never Never Love," "Mai's Space"), others are serious enough for a breakup ("Calling Me Down"), but all will have you glad you don't have to listen to it on an 8-track tape.
