Sarai

Über Sarai

A white, female rapper from upstate New York, Sarai has been dubbed "Feminem" by many in the media, although her style and content differ dramatically from Detroit's Caucasian sensation. Flexing a choppy flow that's less husky than Lil Kim's or Foxy Brown's, Sarai sounds a bit like Amil, the ill-fated emcee who got unceremoniously dumped by Roc-A-Fella after her debut LP stalled at the gate. On her first album, The Original, Sarai takes on several hot-button topics (drugs, homelessness, two songs about teen pregnancy) but sets them to familiar, slicked-out production tailor-made for radio play. Her debut single, "Pack Ya Bags," made a little noise, but it remains to be seen as to whether she has what it takes to make it in the cutthroat rap game.
