Callin' Me When I'm Lonely
Label: Old Green Barn/Sea Gayle Music/Warner Records
For what has been touted as her first country album, Crow didn't need to alter her sound all that much. After all, 21st century Nashville cranks out the very brand of Eagles-inspired twang-pop that's been the singer's bread and butter since Tuesday Night Music Club. The most drastic change Crow makes (and it isn't that drastic) entails tweaking her lyrics for maximum "heartland." Like a true pro, she covers all the talking points: guns/cars ("Shotgun"), booze/Willie Nelson ("We Oughta Be Drinkin'"), struggling families/children ("Stay at Home Mother") and dashed dreams ("Homecoming Queen").
