The Last Ship
For those hoping Sting's current obsession with early music and sea-shanty folk is just a phase, The Last Ship certainly isn't for you. Featuring songs that also appear in his musical of the same name, the album mediates on family, community, childhood and several other "deep" concepts. A jazz-pop feel does creep into a handful of tracks (among them "Practical Arrangement," "And Yet" and "I Love Her But She Loves Someone Else"), but they're still a long way from The Soul Cages and ...Nothing Like the Sun. Be on the lookout for cameos from Becky Unthank and (get this) AC/DC's Brian Johnson.
