A lot folks out there dismiss Tesla as a hair metal band. Sure, their studio albums have always sounded awfully polished. Dig beneath the surface, however, and you'll discover a meat 'n' potatoes hard-rock band. Reel to Reel, a collection of covers, lends some insight into Tesla's diverse influences, which range from the obvious, Deep Purple and Thin Lizzy, to earthier bands like the James Gang and Traffic.
