Hell Of A Season
El Camino clicks on every conceivable level. The tracklist is so damn strong the record might as well be a greatest hits collection. “Gold on the Ceiling” is glam boogie powered by Patrick Carney’s thunderous version of the Gary Glitter stomp. “Dead and Gone” pleads with Motown-fueled desperation and heartache. Monster single “Lonely Boy” boasts one of Dan Auerbach’s all-time gnarliest opening riffs. “Stop Stop” is punk R&B as wicked and low-down as a voodoo queen’s book of magic spells. If El Camino goes down as the duo’s finest moment, nobody should be surprised.
