Field Guide: Some of the Best Of Timbuk 3
Label: Capitol Records
You have to give it to Timbuk 3; the new wave folk duo only had one big hit in 1987 (the ironic "The Future's So Bright I Gotta Were Shades") and yet they title this career overview as containing only some of their best tracks. Maybe it isn't just chutzpah -- Timbuk 3's singular alternative Americana sound compliments their neo-protest song approach, making them hold up better than many other late '80s time capsules. They even name check acid rain, a man-made environmental problem that now looks like a fuzzy kitten when placed next to global warming.
